KPost is introducing restricted access for articles containing private community information after concerns were raised about the publication of material originally shared in private groups.

A message sent to the website’s operators argued that announcements and other information shared within private groups should not automatically be made available to the public.

“Those groups are private for a reason,” the message argued. It called for the removal of content originating from private sources and warned that further action could follow if the concerns were not addressed.

Under the new approach, articles containing private community information will be accessible only to verified community members. Visitors will be able to request membership through the website and access restricted content once approved.

General news, public announcements and other non-sensitive reporting will remain publicly accessible.

KPost was created in part to bring community news, announcements and resources together for residents who may not belong to every WhatsApp group. The membership system is intended to maintain that access for community members while limiting the public distribution of internal information.
